We continue to exist despite efforts to prevent us from doing so.
Our group lobbied to make riding in the Sarnia area a better place when we were a region of the Bikers Rights Organization of Ontario and after many years of constant infighting within that group we decided to stand alone. That decision has made us a stronger group able to channel our efforts in a rights oriented direction rather than dealing with what was going to happen to us next within the confines of the umbrella Provincial Organization.
We continue to do our best to get the information out to everyone about the effects of “Bill 117” legislation that would limit children under 14 from being able to ride as passengers on street motorcycles.
We reversed a parking ban on motorcycles being able to park by our water treatment plant near Point Edward and enjoy a view of the St Clair River at the mouth of Lake Huron as many people do in the cars.
We successfully convinced the Lambton Mall to create several “Motorcycle Only” Parking Spots near entrances on the sidewalk to keep motorcycles out of the main lots, susceptible to scratches and dents from car doors etc.
We continue to approach the many Campgrounds and Bars that have continued to discriminate against the people who ride motorcycles with rules of limited or modified access to their facilities.
Having to leave your motorcycle at the office at a campground and being made to walk to your site is conduct we just find totally unacceptable.
- We have lobbied for repeal of helmet laws.
- We support increased availability to motorcycle training courses,
- We support better public motorcycle awareness
- We support better rider training and testing.
- We have lobbied for legislation that would increase the penalties when motorists have accidents with Motorcycles.
Right now the common fine for turning left in front of a motorcycle is “Improper Turn” a mere $125 fine is not enough penalty for the loss of a life.
We organize may local social events that include our Annual Shoot N Scoot, Our Annual Motorcycle Awareness Ride each Spring, Summer Time Ride in Show and Shines, Our Spring Time Course to Sharpen your skills, and our Annual Christmas Party.
We continue to support other local motorcycle events as time, money and interest permit.
